Welcome Letter

Doug Baer, President and CEO

Dear Visitor,

For many years, Brooks has provided leadership as a non-profit organization with the unique mission of advancing healthcare for the treatment and prevention of disabilities.

Brooks offers complete care to even the most complex patients of all ages with our unique, interdisciplinary approach. With the region’s only rehabilitation hospital in the Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia region, we provide a full range of specialized outpatient therapies, in more than 25 conveniently located sites. Simply put, our approach to rehabilitation is unparalleled in the region.

Changing the Way You See Rehabilitation

At Brooks, we do everything in our power to help all of our patients reach their highest potential. Our dedication to providing comprehensive rehabilitation begins with our highly credentialed, compassionate team of physicians and therapists, who specialize in rehabilitation. Our exceptional staff is the strong foundation of our success, and we build on that with our state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, and evidence-based care. We are also committed to advancing the field through our ongoing research into the latest rehabilitation treatments and methods. We apply the findings from research to patient care.

Rehabilitation at Brooks is a continuum of care, which means that our patients benefit from our support and expertise at every step of their recovery—from inpatient to outpatient to fitness. This seamless continuum helps our patients achieve their highest level of independence, health and quality of life possible. From helping you set and meet your rehabilitation goals to providing you with an unmatched intensity of rehab therapy and integrating you back into your community.

A team with experience, dedication and passion

We care about our employees and provide a professional environment in which their potential to advance and provide excellent care is maximized. We encourage all of our employees to expand their horizons both personally and professionally by supporting and assisting our employees to get advanced specialized training in many different areas. For example, more than 30 of our registered nurses have obtained specialized rehabilitation nursing credentials (CRRN) in the last five months.

Our desire to advance the field of rehabilitation extends to the Brooks Clinical Research Center in collaboration with academic institutions such as the University of North Florida (UNF), University of Florida (UF) and Duke University, as well as local medical institutions such as Shands Jacksonville, Mayo Clinic and Veterans Administration, where we are developing innovative and advanced technologies that will ultimately help our patients maximize function and achieve even higher levels of independence. Patients currently benefiting from the Center’s clinical studies and trials include individuals with stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, Multiple Sclerosis, chronic pain, arthritis and various musculoskeletal conditions.

In addition to investments in research, clinical care and health education, Brooks is a partner with numerous community non-profits. We work with them to provide funding and leadership to improve access to healthcare in the Jacksonville region.

Beneath it all, Brooks is a community organization. Our staff is united by a desire to have a positive impact on our community both as individuals and as an organization—one that distinguishes itself as a caregiver, employer and neighbor.

Welcome to Brooks Rehabilitation.

Sincerely,

Doug Baer
