Chaplain services are available to all Brooks patients.
The chaplain at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital offers pastoral care for all patients, family and staff. Spiritual care is given regardless of religious affiliation, addressing the specific needs of individuals and families.
What do chaplains offer?
The chaplain can offer assistance and care in a number of ways, including emotional and/or spiritual guidance and support. It can be overwhelming when you or a family member is hospitalized, and the chaplain is available to help you with these feelings. He is available to all patients, including those who have no religious affiliation or belief.
Our chaplain is sensitive to your needs as a rehabilitation patient based on his own personal experience. Bernie Jorn, Chaplain at Brooks, suffered from a spinal cord injury as a young man. Confined to a wheelchair since his accident, Chaplain Jorn is an indispensable resource for our patients, both as a spiritual counselor and simply as an understanding friend.
If you would like to visit with Chaplain Jorn, simply notify your nurse or case manager. You may also contact him directly at (904) 858-7652.
The Brooks chapel is located on the fourth
floor of the hospital on "Church Street".
Interfaith worship services
Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital’s chapel is located on the fourth floor at the end of the “Church Street” hall. It is a peaceful room with stained glass windows, comfortable chairs and a kneeler for prayer. It is always open, and you are invited to come any time for prayer or meditation.
Services are held every Sunday at 1:00 pm. Special services can also be arranged by request.
