Summary

  • 2,516 patients were discharged during 2006.
  • Overall, Brooks patients have a higher improvement in physical functioning at discharge compared to other rehabilitation hospitals nationally.**
  • 96% of patients responded positively to the question “Likelihood of Recommending Brooks.”*
  • Brooks returns 79% of patients back to their homes, which is more than other rehabilitation hospitals nationally.**
  • Patients are admitted faster and can begin the rehabilitation process sooner at Brooks than in other rehabilitation hospitals across the nation.**
  • Post-discharge, 97% of patients in the Brain Injury Day Treatment program rated themselves as better than they were before entering the program.***
  • Average length of stay during 2006 was 16.4 days.**
  • Patients with the following diagnoses showed higher improvement in physical functioning at Brooks compared to other rehabilitation hospitals nationally:**
    • Stroke
    • Spinal cord injury
    • Orthopedics (includes hip fracture, hip replacement, knee replacement and other bone, muscle and joint illnesses)
    • Neurological (includes multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, motor neuron diseases and muscular dystrophy)
    • Amputee
