Jennifer Van Bussel
Jennifer Van Bussel received her Physical Therapy degree in 2001 from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. Since graduation Jennifer has worked in orthopaedics and sport medicine. Jennifer was awarded a Diploma of Intermediate Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association - Orthopaedic Division in 2006. She is currently completing her Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy and is expected to be finish in 2008.
Jennifer accepted a position with Brooks Health Systems in October 2007 as part of the residency/fellowship program faculty. She is responsible for providing didactic/psychomotor training as well as mentoring in the areas of clinical services, educational activities, professional services, scholarly activities, and practice management within the orthopaedic residency program. Along with her residency commitments, Jennifer also provides patient care services at Brooks Amelia Island location.
Prior to joining Brooks, Jennifer held a position at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic. One of the largest, most comprehensive clinics of its kind in North America providing specialized sport medicine care for professional athletes and active people. Along with clinical duties she provided field coverage for events such as: World Transplant Games, 2006 World Lacrosse Championships, 2006 BMO National Figure Skating Championships, Canada Summer Games, CIS National Rugby Championships, and Forest City Road Races.
Jennifer's research interests involve golf and golf related injuries. She was awarded The Silver Quill Award honouring excellence in scientific writing and The Ann Collins Whitmore Award honouring excellence in student research for : Palmer, J. L., Young, S., Fox, E., Lindsay, D. & Vandervoort, A. A. (2003). Senior recreational golfers: A survey of musculoskeletal conditions, playing characteristics, and warm-up patterns. Physiotherapy Canada, 55(2) 79-85. Her current project is a collaborative effort with the University of Western Ontario Wolf Orthopaedics Biomechanics Lab - a case control study to determine the strength of the predictive relationship between gait patterns and low back pain in golfers.
Jennifer has been an active member of the CPA/OPA since 1998 and the APTA/FPTA since 2007. She has served as President of the London District of the OPA and Treasurer of the London Orthopaedic Unit. She is a resident of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy.
